ProgramReady to Read Program
The Ready To Read Program uses Muriel Endersby’s Fun Family Fair book which teaches the phonetic rules of the English language. The fair is divided into play areas, each focusing on one “word family group.” For example, the bumper cars at the fair teach the children the blends like st, cl, fr, sn. The children have fun pretending they are the bumper cars as they drive around the room bumping into each other and saying the sounds of the blends.
Classes involve the following:
- Drama
- Reading with expression and fluency
- Phonics
- Spelling
- Creative Writing
- Printing
- Singing (Action Songs)
- Games (Brings fun and physical activity to the learning process)
- Drawing
- Readers Theatre
This reading program is designed to make the experience of learning to read very enjoyable. The children will have fun and find that they can read each new book with confidence, fluency, meaning and expression.
Mrs. Kathy's daughter Miyoko helps in teaching the class which makes it possible to individually help each student based on his/her need.
